What is unique and special about the Comedy Cellar is that a large amount of comedians will perform at each show. Usually a show does not consist of 1 or 2 comedians but most likely anywhere from 5-10 all performers twenty minute segments. The majority of the comics performing are up and comers from the New York area. Also, Comedy Cellar is one of the more affordable locations to catch a comedy show. Also, the actual location is rather small (fitting about 100 people tops) so everyone is right on top of the stage no matter where you sit. Dangerfields is a world famous, landmarked, comedy club named after the late Rodney Dangerfield. Since 1969, Dangerfields has been responsible for providing some of the country’s best comedians. Gotham Comedy Club
Gotham Comedy Club is probably the best place to see comedy in all of New York. After opening its doors in May of 1996, Gotham has continued to grow in popularity. In addition, Comedy Central currently has a 1 hour special that is filmed on location called “Live at Gotham” which introduces new up and coming comedians as they perform live on stage. In addition, famous comedian and actor Anthony Anderson hosts a weekly show on Sundays. This place is definitely the perfect place to catch a comedy show when you are in the New York City area.
